SUMMER DAY CAMPS 2010
Summer day camps are sponsored by the Florida Air Museum and held at the Tom Davis Education Center. Summer camps are a learning experience with activities designed to capture the imagination of children and interest them in aerospace science. Though science is our focus, we do not neglect the art, history, or poetry of flight. Activities are scheduled both inside our climate controlled classrooms and outside, utilizing the resources of our spacious campus as a learning lab.
We take the safety and well being of our campers very seriously. We pledge to keep parents/guardians informed of issues brought to our attention and request parents/guardians to do the same. If behavior compromises the safety or well being of any camper, we may request the immediate removal of the offending person(s).
We instill values of the Aviators Creed:
I will treat this earth and sky
As I would others:
With respect and dignity.

Destination Aviation Day Camp is an age appropriate curriculum that varies from year to year. As campers mature, their tasks become more complex and challenging. Campers learn about the parts of an airplane, aerodynamics, basic navigation, weather, pre-flighting and flying aircraft. Visits to the restoration center prep campers for fabricating their own wing ribs. Flight simulators are used to practice skills and reinforce learning before they are given an opportunity to fly an airplane with a Flight Safety International flight instructor. Partial scholarships are available.
Residential Summer Camps Cost $625 - includes camp tuition
Destination Aviation Residential Camps run concurrently with the day camps. Residential campers stay in the Tom Davis Education center dorm rooms from Sunday afternoon through Friday afternoon while day campers go home. In addition to the day camp program, they receive meals and snacks. Evening programming includes movies in the media room and additional flight simulator time to enhance the camping experience. Campers live in an air conditioned dorm room with other campers under 24 hour supervision. Campers need to bring their own pillow, sleeping bag and enough light clothing for the 6 days. Pick up from Tampa International and special diets can be accommodated.

NATURE TRAIL
Experience Florida's natural beauty along Sun 'n Fun's Nature Trail, located on the Sun 'n Fun site at Lakeland Linder Regional Airport. Teams of volunteers erected the 100-yard boardwalk that winds through a Florida wetland area.
Sixteen stations are located along the boardwalk. Each features an informational sign and a color photograph of that site. Detailed text identifies the various plants and highlights their unique characteristics.
Visitors are brought close to specimens native to the area. Many are within touching distance. Among the species that can be viewed are elm, maple, oak, sabal palm, saw palmetto and Muscadine grape. Ferns, including resurrection, netted chain, and royal seem to be everywhere.
Contact Sun 'n Fun to make arrangements to visit the Nature Trail. It is a delightful experience for you and your family or group.
